Teutonic Knights at a reenactment of the Battle of Grunwald. The battle took place in 1410 and is also known as the First Battle of Tannenberg. The Teutonic knights were decisively defeated by an army from the Kingdom of Poland led by King Władysław II Jagiełło and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania led by Grand Duke Vytautas. Most of the Teutonic leaders were killed or captured in the battle, including the Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen. The outcome led to the ascendency of the Polish-Lithuanian union as the dominant power in Eastern Europe. [Photo: Reenactment in Photography] #history #medieval #poland #Lithuania #battle
